I ordered four 50l bags of compost from Marshalls, I paid via Paypal and the funds were immediately taken from my account. Three weeks later I was still waiting for order to arrive, only after contacting customer service (to which I got no acknowledgement of my email or a reply) did my order finally turn up five days later. Absolutely useless.
The company shouldn't advertise plants which are not in stock. After chasing twice on where my order was, I have asked for a refund as they don't have it in stock for another year.

I ordered three Marmande tomato plants from Marshall’s in early April with a promised delivery of late May. I progressed this order 5 times and given delivery dates that came and went. I was promised they would be despatched week ending 11th June, when they didn’t arrive i again e-mailed Marshall Gardens, the reply I got astounded me that they had just sown the seed and the plants would be ready in 10 days, obviously they would never be mature enough to produce fruit so I asked for my money back. I’ll never buy from Marshall’s again, rubbish
I recently made two orders from this company, the first for six “primo cane” Autumn Bliss Raspberry plants and accepted the statement on the order acknowledgement that “Due to current circumstances, orders are taking up to 5 days to leave our warehouse”
However, after 3 weeks and several phone calls I still had not received my plants. Different excuses given on every enquiry.
Finally the package arrived containing six canes, three of which appeared to be totally dead and the others having some VERY weak yellowed growth.
I again called, this time to complain and was told that this was quite normal and I should see significant improvement after planting. They’ve been in the ground for three weeks now and “guess what” ! They’re still “dead” though the three that showed froth are improving.
The second order placed a week or so after the first was for 12 “Cobra” Climbing French Beans. On the description it was stated that the dispatch would be early May which I accepted.
Again ! The middle of May arrives and “Guess again” .....no beans ! and another phone call. “They’ll be picked next week” I was told, so I wait.
May passes and we’re into June and running out of year for said beans to grow and crop.
I call AGAIN on Friday 4th June and am told that my order has been dispatched that day via 1st class post and should be delivered the following day (Saturday) or if not, on Monday! I enquired if the seedlings would be ok being left in the packaging till Monday and was told that they are fully prepared on dispatch to withstand a small delay.
The woman that answered my query should have made sure that the phone call had terminated before she called me an “Ass**le” !!!
Anyway the following day (5th June) arrives and “low and behold”, the postman delivers my parcel which I immediately opened to find a “Sorry mess” of seedlings that looked as if they’d been ripped out of the seed boxes and jammed into the packaging. Three of the twelve that I’d paid for having broken stems making them totally unviable. The rest were also damaged albeit to a somewhat lesser extent
These people are “Cowboys” and I wish that I’d “trust piloted” them before placing my orders
I’ll never use them again and would advise anyone reading this to give them a “Wide Berth”. Disregard my advice at your peril
3 out of the 4 boxes of plants that arrived yesterday were damages/wilted. Emailed photos and their response was that most of the plants were salvageable. Can’t believe they think this is an acceptable way for the plants to arrive and want to quibble on a plant per plant refund basis. One tray most most drying despite damp compost so must have been packaged in a poor state and one tray all plants on one side squashed and the last tray they were a jumbled mess all out of their slots that I had to try and reposition. Photos don’t do the condition of the plants justice. Will be pursuing a refund from the payment method I used.
Still waiting for the herb plants I ordered ages ago that Marshalls promised would be despatched in mid April. The customer service response has been so slow and non-committal. The latest set of dates they gave me have also passed and I still haven’t received my order. This is the first and last time I’ll ever use this company. Very disappointed
Like others I ordered 'in stock' items in March. After 22 days I had only received one of 10 items on my order - some campanulas. A week later 3 of 9 delphiniums arrived after I chased them up. They told me these were dispatched by Royal Mail on 21st April. I did not receive these until the 29th. So that's 8 days in a small pot without water and light. Two were virtually dead and the third one had already passed away. Weirdly, my order stated there should have been other plants in the package and a number of others I have already received. But 8 of 10 items still hasn't arrived as of 4th May. The rest of my order never arrived and after some chasing I did get a refund. Sadly I can't recommend as there seems to be no care for the plants in the way they are packed or their carrier of choice. I will be using other, better online suppliers who have proved much more efficient.

I ordered a timber cold frame before Christmas, as I was told it would be delivered by Christmas. Then on purchasing it, I was told it was out of stock. I then followed this up and they said it would be 2 weeks, but after 2 weeks it was still out of stock. I followed up again in 2 weeks - still out of stock. I did this 4 times and each time they just kept saying it would be in stock in 2 weeks. I then ask again when it will be in stock and they said 2 weeks. I must stress that I only found out this information as I kept emailing them, there was no communication on their part at all! Eventually, I asked for a refund as I was sick of the lies and poor communication. To add insult to injury, this whole time it has displayed as in stock on their website, so they are clearly misleading their customers. I can see other reviews from people who haven't received it as well, so feel it is unfair for them to blatantly mislead their customers.
Great service from marshalls based in Huntington. Cambs.
I recieved my apple tree promptly. And it's in great condition.
I was really worried seeing negative reviews.
I emailed my concerns and got a fast reply reassuring me . I am so happy with my purchase .
Order MG624495 Made and paid for 3 weeks ago. Delivery was estimated at 3-5 days at the point of order.
Will be contacting my bank to charge back credit card and also make a complaint. Will also contact trading standards.
After a very long wait allowing time for them to respond with something other than an email in an accusatory tone implying I haven't got the first idea about plant quality; there has been no further communication. Discussing this company at the allotment site it turns out that others have similarly bad experiences and said don't expect an apology or refund I was informed. In future I shall only use Thompson and Morgan and other sites with favourable reviews.
